Traffic Offense Point Reductions and Mail Dispositions

Effective June 15, 2020The Colorado Springs City Attorney's Office - Prosecution Division in cooperation with the Colorado Springs Municipal Court in response to the COVID-19 restrictions and in an effort to reduce the risk of exposure closures have implemented a process to allow individuals with pending qualifying traffic matters an effective and efficient way to resolve those matters without having to appear in Court.

If you have been charged with a traffic offense carrying a point assessment of 4 points or 3 points and your case is payable as indicated on the front of your ticket then upon payment the Prosecution Division will automatically reduce the number of points assessed against your DMV record by 2 points. If you have missed your court date and a warrant has been issued there may be additional costs associated with the missed court date.  Please contact the Municipal Court at 719.385.5928 of you have questions regarding a missed court date.

If you are seeking a plea negotiation in other open matters, you may be eligible for a mail disposition through the City Attorney’s office.  For more information, see the Mail Disposition Form.

We hope this will allow many of you a convenient way to resolve your pending cases.
